The Bride

Drawn for Halloween in 2023, this is from a photograph of the actress Elsa Lanchester in the titular role of the Bride of Frankenstein, filmed in 1935. This was a pleasure to draw as Elsa’s expression is fantastic, her otherworldly beauty enhanced by makeup and dramatic lighting. And, of course, there’s that incredible wig with its distinctive shocks of white ‘lightning’ down the sides.
