The perceptive intelligence of corvids, including crows and ravens, and their frequently gruesome propensity for scavenging, has resulted in their association with death and the afterlife by many cultures for centuries. The covid’s symbolism is rich and varied – they are described as spiritual guides, omens of fate, carriers of souls, and messenger of the gods.

Drawn for Halloween in 2022, I wanted to capture the powerful mystery of the corvid at a time of year long associated with the thinning of the veil between the living world and that of the dead.
